Breeding Philosophy

Green Gate's breeding philosophy consists of producing intelligent, beautiful and structurally correct horses with a focus on preserving distinct historical strains of breeding.

Akhal-Tekes

As an originator of the Thoroughbred and several warmblood breeds, the Akhal-Teke is a rare yet massively important breed. Our aim is to preserve the purebred horse for longevity and to provide an outlet for them to prove their proficiency as sport horses in their own right. We develop our horses to compete successfully in the higher levels of sport disciplines such as Jumping, Dressage, and Eventing along with showcasing their famous stamina through a small Endurance string.

Akhal-Tekes also provide excellent outcrosses on warmblood and thoroughbred bloodlines to add height, balance, refinement and stamina. While preserving the purity of the breed is our main priority, we encourage use of our stallions to contribute to other sport horse breeds, believing they have an abundance of excellent qualities to contribute.

Arabians

There are an abundance of qualities that make the Arabian horse unique and our aim with our breeding program is to preserve them with care and thoughtfulness. We believe that the preservation of older bloodlines is beneficial to the longevity of the Arabian breed as a whole as newer modern lines begin to saturate the market. The value of preserving straight strains is incalculable in breeding horses for a purpose. Our Russian and Polish horses have developed over decades to be suitable for sport horse disciplines with their larger size and correct structure while our Egyptian horses are more suited toward the western disciplines with their swiftness and sure-footedness.

We value horses that excel undersaddle and only consider horses that have proven their talent and durability as show horses for our breeding program. We value balanced, correct phenotypes, excellent free movement, agreeable temperaments, strong genetics free from any abnormalities or disease, and finally consistency and validation from their show careers.

Stallion Services

We are happy to offer our stallions for both public consideration and private treaty. Our exemplary stallion lineup reflects our commitment to breeding Arabian and Akhal-Teke horses with the phenotype, movement, temperament, and genetics suitable for success. We evaluate each stallion on his performance and prowess before offering them for the season. In addition to providing public slots during the breeding season, we also entertain private inquiries year-round.

Custom Foals

In addition to our standard stallion offerings, we also provide a custom foal service. We help our clients select a mare and stallion combination from our stock that will give them the best chance of achieving their breeding or performance goals.
